Plan your own client base

How many clients does your accounting firm need?

Estimate the client count that covers costs and your target and whether the workload fits the time available.

Starting values are editable examples, not tulos.ai agency prices or earnings promises. Enter amounts excluding VAT. Calculations run in your browser; field values are not sent to us.

1. Monthly finances

Amount needed after operating costs, before owner salary, associated employer costs and taxes. Not take-home pay. Allow for these in your target.

For example premises, insurance, YEL, training and fixed software costs. Spread annual costs. Do not count owner compensation again here.

Your service fee. Include annual services only if their time and costs are also included.

Your estimate or supplier quote: client-specific software, delivery fees and subcontracting. Not a tulos.ai price assumption.

2. Available working time

Include review, advice and client communication. Spread annual work and also check peak periods separately.

A realistic working month allowing for holidays and absences.

Deducted from total hours before calculating client capacity.

How does the calculator work?

Client count

(Fixed costs + owner target) ÷ (average billing − variable costs). Rounded up to whole clients.

Capacity

(Total hours − sales and administration) ÷ hours per client. Rounded down. Negative available time is treated as zero.

From contribution to income

Billing − fixed costs − client-specific costs. The remainder must cover owner compensation, any associated employer costs and taxes included in your target.

This model represents an average month with one service price and workload estimate. It does not automatically calculate personal taxes, cash flow, setup costs or extra capacity from staff. Enter all relevant operating costs yourself. Plan the initial months and peak periods separately.
